Toyota launched the sixth generation RAV4 on sale in Japan on December 17, 2025. The SUV was announced with a product approach spanning Z and Adventure guises; Release for GR SPORT and plug-in hybrid is planned for March 2026.
The Arene software development platform is used for the first time in the new model. Toyota explains that it has put this infrastructure into use in order to develop user interface software for areas such as Toyota Safety Sense and cockpit in a shorter time.
Cabin functions are grouped together in island-like groups, with display, gear selection and ventilation access handled together. The announcement documents the first sales push in Japan. The December 2025 date for this registration is maintained to avoid confusion with the PHEV calendar announced later.
