Mazda announced on January 29, 2026 that total global production and sales of the CX-5 separately reached five million by the end of 2025. The CX-5 became the third Mazda model to exceed this threshold, following the Mazda323 and Mazda3.
Production of the first generation started at the Ujina 2 facility in 2011. The production network later expanded to other Japan facilities and China; Local assembly programs were established in Malaysia and Vietnam.
The source states that the model is sold in more than 100 countries and regions. It is also stated in the statement that the new CX-5 will be shown in Europe in July 2025, while North American and Japanese launches are planned for spring 2026. The five million number is the historical total, not single year sales.
