Honda R&D and Tohoku University established the joint mobility research center on September 1, 2026. The center combines academic expertise within the university's Fluid Sciences Institute with Honda's engineering and applications experience.

The studies are organized around identifying advanced research trends, developing joint strategies and conducting research together on selected themes. The goal is to accelerate the implementation of results in mobility products and services.

Resource defines research and human resource development as interconnected goals. Establishing the center does not mean the completion of a particular new engine, battery or car. The news documents the interagency research structure; Technical results, performance or product calendars are not added for project topics that are not selected.
