Internal combustion engine prototypes of the new BMW 3 Series have undergone final driving dynamics studies at the Miramas test center. BMW explains that four- and six-cylinder engines will be used with a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
The center in southern France offers high-speed ovals, grip tracks and different surfaces. Engineers adjust lateral dynamics, steering precision and ride comfort in these conditions. The vehicles had previously passed winter tests and Nürburgring trials in Sweden.
Internal combustion models will share the Neue Klasse design language with the electric i3. Panoramic iDrive and Operating System X will be used in the cabin. The announcement is based on the manufacturer's development schedule; The behavior of camouflaged prototypes is not reported as independent comparative test results.
