Ford announced that the Mustang GTD has reduced the Nürburgring Nordschleife lap to 6 minutes, 52.072 seconds. The new time shows progress in the development program of the model, which previously went below seven minutes.
The company attributes this gain to updates and settings confirmed on the track. In the development of the GTD, the lessons learned from the racing car Mustang GT3 are transferred to the reliability, quality and performance targets of the road car.
Ford's announcement dated May 1, 2025 places the vehicle in fourth place in the production sports car class at that time. This ranking is a dated track comparison; it is not considered the same evaluation as later cars or different Nürburgring classes.
