Nissan announced the completion of the Namie Smart Mobility field program in the Fukushima region on September 24, 2026. The on-demand service, which has been developed since fiscal year 2020, will become Namie municipality's public transportation program starting October 1.

The trials build on a regional mobility partnership between Nissan and Namie, Futaba and Minamisoma. Improvements made together with users were evaluated to facilitate the use of the service and respond to local transportation problems.

Moplus will support the business under contract with the municipality. Namie aims to use its resources more efficiently by combining Smart Mobility with its existing taxi service for residents. Rather than a car launch, the news documents the transition from field testing to permanent local transportation service.
