Opel announced that it is working on a new fully electric C-segment SUV. The project is linked to talks about expanding the partnership between Stellantis and Leapmotor; It is planned to complement the existing Grandland, Frontera and Mokka family.
It is envisaged that the design of the vehicle will be prepared in Rüsselsheim and that German and Chinese teams will work together in its development. The production address is shown as the Zaragoza facility in Spain, where the Corsa is also produced.
The joint technologies are intended to reduce development time to less than two years; sales start could be as early as 2028. The statement presents the expanded partnership and product schedule as planned steps rather than finalized results.
