Porsche announced that it produced new pilot cells in its high-voltage battery recycling project. The cathode active material of the cells was prepared entirely from recycled raw materials. This scope includes lithium, nickel, cobalt and manganese.
In the study carried out with partners such as cylib, the source is Porsche's high-voltage batteries that have reached the end of their service life. After the recovered material is reprocessed, it is converted into cells to be used in test vehicles. The cells are currently subject to extensive operational testing.
Batteries collected from Porsche centers in Germany have been recycled using a water-based process since May 2026. Raw materials are planned to enter new cell production from 2028. The expression 100 percent refers to the cathode active material; It does not show that every component of the entire battery is recycled.
