Peugeot has announced that Robert Shwartzman will be one of the full-time drivers of the 9X8 in the 2027 WEC season. The 26-year-old joins the Hypercar program with his background in single-seater and endurance racing.
Shwartzman was the fastest driver in the 2023 Bahrain WEC rookie test and took victory at Lone Star Le Mans in his first WEC race in 2024. This experience constitutes the basic reference on the durability side of the new agreement.
The 2019 Formula 3 champion and 2021 Formula 2 runner-up competed in IndyCar in 2025, winning the Indianapolis 500 pole position. Peugeot associates this knowledge in different disciplines with the development of its squad for the next season.
