BMW has announced its lifecycle approach for the new 3 Series, from supply to recycling. In electric and internal combustion versions, renewable energy, secondary materials and production processes are evaluated together as emission reduction tools.

By the brand's calculation, approximately 31 percent of the i3 50 xDrive's total material content comes from secondary sources. In the internal combustion version, the rate is approximately 25 percent. Approximately 70 percent recycled content is used in the aluminum of the hood.

Dingolfing, Landshut, Irlbach-Straßkirchen and Munich connect the specialized production steps in the regional network. BMW describes short transport distances as an advantage of this layout. The rates given belong to the material scope defined by the company; It does not mean the same reduction in emissions throughout the entire life cycle of the vehicle.
