Mazda and Nippon Express announced trial of HVO biodiesel in finished vehicle transportation on June 2, 2026. The work, which started in May, is carried out on a round-trip line of approximately 12 kilometers between the Nishinoura area of the Hofu factory and the Nakanoseki vehicle yard.

The two trailers will be operated under maintenance and control conditions equivalent to conventional diesel use. Fuel is provided by NX Shoji, while Isuzu is also contributing to the trial. Consumption, performance and operational challenges will be measured together.

The study was planned to last until the end of fiscal year 2026. The trial investigates the feasibility of alternative fuel in logistics; It doesn't mean that the entire supply chain is already carbon neutral. Fuel supply for wider use and development of regional infrastructure are also part of the programme.
